Writing Samples

Worldbuilding: Gallant Ward Shell (~260 words, 1 minute)
Destiny 2 delivered its story through many channels for different play audiences. This short piece is connected to one of the in-game cosmetics earnable by players who completed Moments of Triumph in 2022. It provides worldbuilding by showing a prominent NPC, Zavala, in his duty as Vanguard Commander in a way the player rarely gets to see in-game.

Tutorial: The Maze Gallery Lobby (~1100 words, 5 minutes)
As the Project Lead for the Maze Gallery I did a lot of writing and editing to stitch together the work of dozens of authors, but this first section of the game is one that I wrote alone to set the tone of the world and tutorialize players to the basic mechanics. As a piece of interactive fiction the player can leave the tutorial area very quickly, but it still provides characterful context to the inventory, NPC conversations, goals, and navigation.

Character Lore: Lianna Hearth-heart (~850 words, 4 minutes)
This short piece is the character backstory for a Player Character in Dungeons & Dragons. Because the character is a Folk Hero it is written like a folk tale, passed on through oral tradition and is what would be given to the rest of the party and the Game Master as an explanation of the character's disposition and general introduction.

RPG Excerpt: House of the Dread (~1900 words, 10 minutes)
Two scenes taken directly from the campaign instructions for a ghost-hunting RPG. There are different sections for the scene, characters, places, as well as notes for Possible Pulls (Dread's skill checks) and Choices (campaign-changing branching narrative) then a more narrative-style example of how those characters speak.
